Award-winning documentary filmmaker puts her name on the studio behind 150+ wedding films shot on Super 8, 16mm and digital

PORTLAND, Ore., 09/02/ 2026 – Lovebug Pictures, the Portland wedding videography studio founded by Lauren Laskin, today announced its rebrand as Lauren Laskin Films. The new name puts the filmmaker at the center of the brand. Her documentary background and her mix of motion picture film with digital now define the studio.

The studio has filmed more than 150 weddings across the Pacific Northwest, the United States and abroad. Laskin keeps her calendar to roughly 15 weddings a year and handles every stage of production herself.

A Documentary Filmmaker Behind the Camera

Laskin holds a Master of Fine Arts in Experimental and Documentary Arts from Duke University. She has spent more than a decade in video production. Her credits include camera work on Debra Granik's "Leave No Trace" and a role on "Siren: The Voices of Shelley Beattie," the 2025 HBO documentary directed by Irene Taylor. Kodak recognized her with a Kodak Gold Award, which included a $5,000 scholarship and a $5,000 motion picture film grant.
Documentary training shapes how the studio works on a wedding day. Rather than staging moments, Laskin films the day as it unfolds and edits for the story each couple is living. Super 8 and 16mm film run alongside UHD digital cameras, adding timelessness, softness and authenticity that digital alone cannot reproduce.

Oregon Wedding Day named Lauren Laskin Films Best Videographer in 2024 and 2025.
The studio also received the WeddingWire Couples' Choice Award in 2021 and 2024. Couples have given the studio a 5.0 rating across 39 WeddingWire reviews.
